Pèlerins

2013

As well as the legend wants, when gods inhabited the world, few drops of eternity were lost in the Ganges river…
Between January and March 2013, 120 millions hindu pilgrims went for cleansing in the sacred waters of Allahabad city. This pilgrimage, during the most important of the Kumbh Mela, represent from now the biggest human gathering of the history.

During three weeks, from Varanasi to Allahabad I followed the pilgrims of the Kumbh Mela. I remember Catherine who live in the canadian french forest, we had a great view above the immensity of the forest . She said « look at that, each tree is is different, so the forest is made of the amount of the individualities » Multitude refers us to our biological condition, but in a sense « crowd » doesn’t exist, only the faces, like the history they cary on, are the concrete embodiment of human reality. Next Kumbh Mela as big as this one will take place in 144 years…
